Why Amapola Players?

AMAPOLA

We live in California so we use the image of the California Poppy.  Poppies vary in form and color and can be found around the world.  Each of us involved have roots from around the world.

PLAYERS

Players, as opposed to an ensemble, gather together on a project by project basis, in the same way poppies can gather and make meadows of beauty, and then the season is past.  The next season may find flowers in the same place or seeds may have been moved by the wind, or a creature, and when the season is right - flourish where they’ve landed.

Who We Are

We are actors, directors, and playwrights who gather together to present dramatic and theatrical works – formally and informally.

What We Do

We share stories that reflect the cultural heritage and history of the Southwest, with a particular emphasis on Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley and of those who identify as having roots in the Americas, the Caribbean, and the Philippines.

Our Partner

Thanks to Parson’s Nose Theater for use of rehearsal space and performance space. Their partnership with Amapola Players permits us the opportunity to hear and see our work in front of a live audience.
